I ordered last night and had an estimated ship date of April 27th. Now it will ship on April 21st! I'm in no hurry though, it's for a friends May birthday.

I ordered last week and have a ship date of April 21...

After you pick which school you go to you can make a purchase in either Individual or Institutional store.
Yeah, but the $899 iMac is no longer available for purchase in the individual/personal EDU stores...

    4 phones in this family

11 phones in mine, and the sad thing is there are only 7 people in my family.

What is iLife 07 gonna do that you can't get in 06.

A less bloated iWeb for one and I'm sure there will be other improvements as well. iLife 06 really gave a much needed speed boost to iPhoto, so it's not hard to imagine there will be similar improvements this year.

You sound like you've been a lurker for some time that's just registered. GREAT post!
Hi, hey, thanks. I've had Macs for a very long time, I usually drift in here when I pick up a new one, then lose interest, <years pass>, repeat cycle. I seem to have landed back on MacRumors around the time I picked up a new dodeca-core MP.

I just replied because it's the thread that caught my eye at 2AM when clicking through stuff after having a chance to catch the Apple keynote. Which was, to me, OS/X looking more like iOS, which is fine and whatev, pretty much expected. I actually liked the Launchpad and Mission Control demos, if I'm gonna say something kind

This does not excite me. I feel it is yet another way Apple is trying to plug the gaping hole between iMac and Mac Pro. Those wishing for a mid-range tower... keep dreaming.

And is it just me or has Apple been focusing a lot on gadgetry lately? iPods, PhonePods (iPhones), TelePorts (iTV), Google/GPS iPhoto syncing camera, etc... We want a computer company, not trinket provider. Leave that to Sony.

AARRRGGHHHH!!!! I STILL can't get an answer if the iPads2's that I ordered at 7:30 AM on 3/11 will ship before April 1-6.... It's like trying to pull teeth out of an angry, virile cat.

Does anyone know what "Prepared for Shipment" means in Apple-Speak??

Dude - this is good. Today, mine went from "Not Yet Shipped" to "Prepared for Shipment." I'm in the same timeframe as you.

I don't need to source something that is common knowledge.

And as I said in my previous post, there is a world of difference between "encouraging" somebody to do something and "outlawing" somebody from doing something.

Sorry that subtle difference is lost on you. Maybe a definition might help ...

Core 2 Duos in the MacBook Pros!!! Come on you know you want to damnit....

    Hell yes!!!

With a better mobile graphics GPU, i.e.,
ATI Mobility Radeon X1800 Series or
    GeForce Go 7900

    Larger optional hard drives:
offer the Seagate ST9160821A-RK 160 GB ATA-100 for mac laptops or Seagate Momentus 5400.3 160 GB

and here is the kicker: (optional)
    Blu-Ray Drive player/burner, with DVD+-R (dl) ability.

hey i know it would cost more, but apple is supposed to lead in terms of technology.

    Obviously not.

The point is, Apple doesn't need to release the iPhone 5 yet. They think can keep wooing us with a third iteration of the iPhone 4.

Exactly... they know they have majority of the market share.

@Vghty I'd really like to thank you for your latest post. I'm finding it more and more difficult to keep track of all my sources as my research progresses. I find it difficult to adapt to new methods, which is probably why I still just keep all my saved PDFs in a folder and have to go hunting down the one I need. It's not always convenient and I've only just gotten used to using Microsoft Word's bibliography tool, which is decent. They need to have more native support for different formats (some of us use Harvard instead of the ones listed). I've had to find other formats online and plug them into the Microsoft User folder. This brings me to a question about Bookends. Does it have support for multiple referencing/citation formats? Is Harvard one of them? That will really help me make my decision about whether or not to purchase it. I'm trying Zotero right now (they've just released a standalone version that doesn't require Firefox). Thanks for the info!

Hasn't there been talk of an Apple Event on the 30th? (Or have I been mis-reading?)

I haven't seen anything, but I could have missed it. January 30th is a Tuesday, so it is possible an event could be held that day.

Jon Stewart, host of the comedy news show The Daily Show, offered an extended segment (http://www.thedailyshow.com/watch/wed-april-28-2010/appholes) on yesterday's show addressing the ongoing saga of the lost next-generation iPhone (http://www.macrumors.com/2010/04/27/criminal-investigation-of-lost-next-generation-iphone-spurred-by-apple-requests/) that was acquired by Gizmodo. The clip has been receiving a fair bit of attention today due to the show's popularity and Stewart's angle on the story taking Apple to task for its role in events.

Stewart's monologue, which kicked off the show, highlights many of the key events in the story thus far and sees Stewart professing his love for Apple gadgets but directly addressing Apple CEO Steve Jobs with his fears that Apple is becoming "The Man" in a reversal of the company's landmark '1984' commercial that introduced the Macintosh. Stewart draws a comparison to the reclusive Howard Hughes, suggesting that Jobs could be heading down the same road with the "paranoid corporate genius stuff" that saw Hughes engage in increasingly bizarre behavior. And unsurprisingly, Stewart also takes the opportunity to deliver a rant at AT&T's service, a popular target of discontent for iPhone owners.

So, some crazy bitch climbs on the hood of your car to keep you from leaving and you just have to put up with that?

I'm sorry, I'm not saying the guy should get a free pass, but at some point her own idiocy has to bear some of the blame for this.

    You can't be serious.

Wow, if this is indeed live that's great! I haven't seen a live broadcasted presentation from Jobs in quite a while, probably since the last WWDC or MWSF which was done live a couple years ago.

I thought Jobs wasn't going to do the presentation today?

AFAIK, AT&T is the only carrier to have a simple method like this to report trouble spots. What, do you think Verizon actually has a guy walking around the country with a phone attached to his ear asking "Can you hear me now?"

Its fair game if his stupid enought to get drunk at a bar

So according to you it's fine to steal the purse of any woman in a bar who has had a drink too many.
Your post about such vile thievery being "fair game" says more about you than it does about Apple.
