I need to know who all these ladies on the first page are! So many women, so little time.
But I did see Olivia Wilde on this page. My favorite.

musicians who travel a lot (like me) would not be happy with this at all. the process of miniaturization has allowed us to fill up the free space with more junk. i love that my powerbook is small and (mostly) all it needs is built inside. i got enough to worry about with my ipod and external drive. and yeah, something feels very 80s about this. keep thinking apple.

Replacable video card? Sweet but where in the world i can get it? It may be too Apple specific. And i am not sure that i will pay 1.5-2x than its equivalent on PCI Express slot...

As for the current feature set, it would be nice to see more powerful facial recognition (profiles, better job with babies and children).
Agreed about facial recognition. It is just good enough to be tempting to use, but, not good enough to really automate the process-- very frustrating. It works OK with certain people, especially people over 40, but, not well at all with children.

Because any G5 will sodomize a Mini in graphics performance.
As an owner of a Power Mac G5, that statement makes me proud to own one of these beasts.

But in fear of being labelled a racist, I shall no longer speak my views. It's a sad day when you're a racist for disliking people who break the law, and enter countries illegally, it's even worse when your own government house them.

The way Apple's product development cycle works, it is quite unlikely that we would see an iPad 3 this year.
Frankly, I don't think Apple is staffed to create a couple of iPad generations in a single calendar year. Plus, Apple's COGS drops as they ship more units of a particular model. Maintaining a high gross margin is a fundamental component of Apple's business model.

who needs 8gb, sheesh. i barely use 2gb of my 4gb of ram as it is. even using photoshop, I have never seen it max out.
As a developer, running our web app and my development environment, I'm maxing out 8GB of RAM fairly frequently. Were I also running our DB (which would have to be silo'd off in a VM running Windows as Oracle no longer supports OS X) 12GB RAM would be necessary, min.
My wife's machine has 4GB RAM and Flash enabled, and frequently starts showing 3.9GB+ "used" memory and things start stuttering. Hers will be getting an 8GB upgrade soon (and Click2Flash perhaps as well ...).

build your own (http://blog.backblaze.com/2009/09/01/petabytes-on-a-budget-how-to-build-cheap-cloud-storage/)
Might be worth a read
This looks like a very real possibility. I've got three main questions.
1. How on earth can I build a case like that, or what options exist for building a case like this?
2. What type of software is available to run something like this, assuming I have a working knowledge of Linux (GUI Versions)?
3. What are the pros/cons of a setup like this compared to just getting a storage array and connecting it to a Mac Pro considering the fact that I want to be able to pull data from this remotely.
...And doesn't 4GB of ram seem like too little?

oh,...........LOL!
Yeah I think this might be the source of peoples Temp increases. Basically some core duo chips stop updating the temp value when they go into a particular powersaving mode.
So when the machine wakes from sleep the cpu will update the temp for a few secs and then stop.
Anyway I've not had change to update my Macbook yet to see if the temp issue is fixed for me.
The question is now is has the bug been fixed by preventing the core duo from entering the powersaving mode? This could probably make chips run hotter?
For more info google intel and AE18 the id of the bug.

Form factor? I don't care! I want to know what's going to be inside of this phone, especially how much storage. And will this include .Mac syncing, mobile version of OS X or iChat or iTunes? Yes, we know it's coming from Apple, so it will at least LOOK pretty. But I'm not holding my breath until we know what's under said pretty-ness.

Now that I got my Quad fixed(it's only been running as a dual 2.5). I'm thinking of selling it and building a i7 computer with at least one or two GTX295 or 480. Haven't decided on which one I really want to set up first.
I did notice that it seems like F@H is only using one core. It's utilizing 100% though on one core then switches to another. Anyway to get all 4 cores fully running? Maybe I'll just use the G5 a bit longer if it can bring out some good numbers.
On the G5 you will have to run a folding client for each core/cpu. Otherwise on Intel chips if you set the -smp flag in the smp client that should make all cores work on the unit.

It's minor news, I guess, but I'm SOOOOOO glad to hear it. Now I can listen to "Before These Crowded Streets" and "OK Computer" without the annoying gaps!

Things like the forum replies, or like "Will it blend?"?
The "Will it blend?"-series is pure genius. It is not some random Joe smashing stuff, it is a for-profit company spending very few dollars and getting extremely wide coverage.
Its silly things like this that make US companies extremely successful. That guy is laughing all the way to the bank.

It better get released in Europe with little gap between the US.
I'd like a new phone, and one made by Apple is a definite yes.
Though with all this great stuff coming, I'll be broke :P
I realize this is what happens with every other fancy new phone, but I imagine an Apple phone would come out in the US first and Europe later.

stretching ear lobes is fun!! im at 8 right now, going up to 2 in a month or so. ;)
OOoooowwwww...... (well, it looks like it hurts!)
but I have no idea of what those numbers mean...
also , I don't think I have the look to get away with stretching my lobes. :p
nope, plain vanilla 2nd set of holes. For studs. Because wearing 2 sets of hoops at once looks a little .... not my cup of tea, I can't get away with it, either. :p
got pics of your ear? :)

So it's okay to generalize about Princeton, Harvard, Yale, Brown, and Columbia, but not the whole Ivy League? Please. Have you considered *not* generalizing, period?
Exactly. Took the words out of my mouth... erm, fingers.

Who knows? Are you privy to their private thoughts?
No. That's the point I am making in response to mrkramers post.
Who knows if the female actually wants to wear the thing or if the dominant male figure is forcing her to "want" to wear it.

when something is wrong the genius bar replace the phone on the spot. does best buy do that?
That's not entirely true. While you will often times find an Apple genius who is willing to do that, (I've seen it many times myself), the Apple warranty agreement reads...
This warranty does not apply: (b) to damage caused by accident, abuse, misuse, flood, fire, earthquake or other external causes.http://images.apple.com/legal/warranty/docs/iphone.pdf
BestBuy's warranty is pretty much a service/replacement plan. Meaning we will first try to "rapid exchange" the phone for you. As soon as GeekSquad checks the phone into the system, a request is generated to send a new or re-manufactured iPhone from our nearest repair center to the BestBuy store you request. This process normally takes about 2-3 days. When that happens if fulfills the service portion of your warranty contract.
If our repair center is out of new or re-manufactured iPhones then the system alerts that GeekSquad agent and then will send you to customer service to exchange your broken phone for a new one.
I normally recommend people purchase BestBuy warranties on Apple products that are capable of having the ADH warranty on them. Which are Laptops, and iPhones. Reason being, if you drop it, it's definitely covered. And you can still take it to any Apple service center to get repairs made as long as you're still within your Apple care warranty.
If you get an iPhone from BestBuy and you're still within your Applecare warranty or you find a polite Apple genius, then nothing is stopping you from trying to get a damaged iPhone exchanged. The only real difference is that BestBuy explicitly guaranties that it will either be repaired or replaced, whereas Apple says they will not repair/replace it, but normally make concessions.

The Ashes (and this is un-Australian) wouldn't bother me too much if England win. They've been the better side and it's nice for the competition to be back in the series. Whereas the Rugby was not acceptable. I wanted us to win!

well I actually wanted the white iPhone 4 when ip 4 launched for the very first time and i was like yea i can wait a month or two for the white one but nahhhhhhh this is too late and many people are tired and looking forward on ip 5! if it's 4S with upgraded something I would definately get it but what's the merit of it now? white?
