ummmm, yes they do.
There are plenty of other links (http://www.gadgetsgeek.ly/2011/02/15/apple-to-purchase-7-8-billion-in-parts-from-samsung/) as well supporting Apple's importance to Samsung as their largest customer.
No they don't. These 8 billion dollars is just a drop in a bucket for Samsung. Their annual revenue is well above $100 billion. As I said, Apple represents just 4% of Samsung sales.

They'll change the key and force a firmware update on any airport express user who wants to update itunes.
That would break all properly licensed third party hardware.

Is there any chance that they'll release the MBPs here?

Useless to me if it is just for iTunes purchases. Please focus on more important things, Apple.
Given iTunes is the world's biggest music store, I think their new service will be quite useful to a lot of people. It's not difficult to imagine the kinds of people who would benefit from having their iTunes purchases backed up to the cloud automatically.
I just hope Steve Jobs doesn't wake up this morning and realise his new idea is useless to caspersoong and kill the project. :(

Core 2 Duo will be the star.
End of Core Solo minis.
With you so far, but I don't think Core 2 Duo is realy all that much of a big deal for Apple in the grand scheme of things. It's a small speed bump, with 64 bit as a bonus extra.
All new redesigned MacBook Pro.
All new iMac design with Conroe inside.
iTunes Media Store Movie Downloads.
I don't believe any of this. The intel MacBook Pros just came out, and the main advantage of the 2 Duo is it's socet compatible with it's predecessor. Why screw aroud with a proven design, when there's absolutely no need. You do that sort of thing when the chipset and whatnot changes and you have to redesign the internals anyway.
The same goes for the iMac, it's a great design. They had a chance to rev the designs when they moved to intel and chose not to. They're not going to rework the internals now just for the sake of it. The next opportunity for that is with the next major rework of the mainboard and peripheral connections, whenever that will be.
As for movie download, it's possible but I think it would be a premature move. Further expansion of their TV show range is much more likely as it fits the casual listening/watching pattern of iPod owners.
Finaly, Merom whatnot are being very much overhyped. The main tech advancements for most users came with Core Duo. iMac and mac Mini prices dropped in the UK in the summer so when Core 2 Duo gets announced you can bet they'll be back up at the release price of the respective hardware platform (iMac, Mini, PBP, etc). Thus you will get more power, but you'll pay for it so bang for buck wise I realy don't think it will make a massive difference.

64-bit likes rosetta it seems. Good speed gain for CS2. 27/36 seconds quicker aint bad. Im guessing the larger L2 cache has some play in that too.
I love that 24". Its a BEAST!

:confused:For that to happen, people would have to want to buy a Windows phone... I'm pretty sure hardly anyone I know even realizes that the platform has undergone a major revamp recently.
My personal opinion is that WP7 is a decent OS, but I just don't see this being a possibility with the meager selection in WP7 software.

I hate to say this folks, but even an iPhone wouldn't be worth having to deal with Cingular's godawful service. Reception is poor in areas where it's supposed to be good and even when you have good reception, you get dropped calls due to network error/rejected/dropped. I've had Cingular for a while now, and I am preparing to drop it with eagerness, even if that means a $200 contract termination fee. I want to slug that twat who says Cingular has the least dropped calls, because it's a ********* LIE.
Settle down Beavis....
Hellooooooooo...reception is going to depend on your specific location!!! I'd have to Google what the latest survey results are, but I'll bet ranking of overall national average quality of coverage is:
1) Verizon Wireless
2) Cingular
3) T-Mobile
4) Sprint
..so I'll bet that on a national basis, Cingular is not as good as Verizon Wireless, but certainly not the worse.
Also, are you using the older phones that they are trying to phase out? If you are, then I sympathize with you and I think that those Cingular customers got a raw deal. But realize that Cingular did NOT really fully integrate the Cingular and AT&T networks, and that a new phone like the iPhone will probably get quite good reception on average (as per my guesstimate rankings above)

My god we cant talk about anything on this board without the core 2 duo macbook/pro crew coming to mess up a thread THAT HAS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DO WITH LAPTOP UPDATES
CAN IT!
And maybe they'll add the Mac Pro Mini Tower.....
Only joking.

Apple are trying to improve, which is a Good Thing.
However, bad publicity involving non Green companies is always a good thing. Shame companies into making their products 'greener' - which effectively what happened to Apple.
One World. We aren't getting off this rock any time soon.

Well, Ive dismissed most of the other complaints. But this is Rogue Amoeba. Phil Schiller needs to get involved with this immediately completely unacceptable. They are one of the premier Mac shareware developers.
Indeed, I hope Apple listens and apologizes etc. to get Rogue Amoeba back.
Come on Apple!

I understand the concept of all this, but what if you're in a place with bad reception (or no WiFi for users without an iPhone)? I don't think that I'll be switching to an all-cloud storage service any time soon.
I do not think that is the plan. I believe the service will allow you to download your songs as well. It just gives you the option to go to the cloud if / when needed.

We expect the first devices to launch in 2012.
How can you predict the market share of a device that you can only predict will launch in a year?
I simply can't imagine the relationship of Nokia and Microsoft to bring anything like the iPhone. Nokia was good with non-smartphones and Microsoft was good with Windows XP, combine that and you get... nothing.

I mean, imagine where we'd be if Steve Jobs didn't have the forsight to develop an Intel version of OS X from the very beginning, 6 years ago?
Or, that Jobs had the foresight not to kill the x86 build of NextStep when he renamed it OSX.
They didn't create an x86 port, they simply maintained the x86 support when they added PPC support and the rest of OSX
Just like Microsoft for years maintained the PowerPC support in NT - which made it very easy to put a PPC chip in the Xbox 360.
2007 looks like it's definitely going to be the year of the Mac!
Yes, the year when it can be proven that Macs are the same as the Dells and eMachines and Gateways and all the other systems from people who also glue Intel chips to a motherboard. :D

Thank goodness Intel will be supporting USB3 for our peripherals.
I'm sure I'm not the only one here who is barely tolerating the mouse and keyboard lag from the slower USB2 port.

Hey the Cingular deal is only six months exclusive, like the RAZR was. So you can all get it probably many more places afterwards and all of the bugs will be worked out by then.. I use Cingular and LOVE it due to the coverage in San Francisco which is difficult due to the seven hills. May other carriers I tried before including verizon and t mobile were much worse here.
Buy I have an 80GB iPod with 18,ooo songs so this thing will me useless to me. But it sure sounds cool!!
