I've been running my Late 2008 MacBook Pro with 8GB since March I'm using Kingston Memory KTA-MB1066K2/8G.
If only Apple would do about about an EFI update and enabling VT-D on the the older MacPro

$180 more than a PS3. Wow! I can so get a 120 GB OEM drive for LESS THAN $100!
So if I got a PS3 "elite", and got a 120 GB OEM drive, IT'D STILL BE CHEAPER THAN AN ELITE 360! WTF WTF WTF WTF!?!?!?!
Now thats an angry comment if ever i saw one.
Atom Bomb sized moan there!

also, if a true widescreen video ipod is coming, I am pretty sure will be at least $450, more than $100 if you compare the top of the line ipod. Right there, there is a distinction.

just a quick note, if you guys have a PS3, buy that version of the game- the PS3 version has steam support and you'll get the windows and mac versions too for free.
Just got it! Well ordered it... I can't "get it" for another week... stupid slow ass shipping... anyway had 35 bucks in Rewardzone points. so my grand total is 22 bucks and I got a 10 dollar gift card coming my way! :D
Loving that I can play it on my iMac AND my PS3... can I do co-op with my PS3? I have my iMac in my kitchen and my PS3 in my living room... essentially I could have a friend on my PS3 and I can be on the Steam copy... or would we need 2 accounts to do that?

Despite all the marketing hype about Microsoft having an entire "Mac team" that's dedicated to the platform writing all this software? It feels more like they're pressured by the rest of the company to "not make Office for Mac TOO good or functional", lest it hurt sales of Windows. (More profitable for Microsoft if they can get Mac users to buy Office for Mac first, decide it doesn't do everything they need, and proceed to buy a Windows license AND an Office for Windows license to run it virtualized, or even to buy a separate Windows PC for the purpose.)
Back in the PowerPC days, I remember the excuse for poor spreadsheet performance was constantly "a limitation of the CPU itself, because of the way it handles math functions internally". But now we've been on Intel for a while, and we're still not seeing good performance in Excel for OS X.
Whilst the overall suite is much better than the 2008 version I have to say the performance of Excel on the Mac is just extremely poor when copying chunks of rows to another sheet it's just painful.
Only talking maybe 10,000 rows and it borks - having used Excel on Windows for many years, including the latest versions capable of handling million row spreadsheets, the performance overall of the Mac version is crap.
Very near to being a great suite but I wonder if they have the inclination to resolve and improve.....

Obviously, a lot of others noticed what I did. I know Steve has a lot going on, what with running two companies and now being the biggest shareholder of a third, on top of being a cancer survivor. But I agree he did not look all that healthy today. I have been watching his Keynotes for several years, but between the ragged beard and his gaunt physique, he did not look well. He also relied on "help" today for a greater part of the presentation than is typical.
I'd like to hear your opinions, and hopefully you'll convince me I am wrong.
Thanks,
Chris

What do Mac users do when the Windows Virus of the Month strikes the office?
They keep working...
True. You have a very good point I don't argue against. Windows takes much more maintenance. However, the security for a small business is not that hard to control for admins. Antivirus applications combined with strict security policies are very effective. Clients don't have admin rights, and that helps prevent dangerous applications from being installed.
But going to the Mac simply to lower the threat of viruses is still not the most efficient choice in our business. That is my point, and a point most business use in making purchasing decisions. They cost savings of a better secuered OS (OS X) is not worth losing some core applications.

When ethnic minority street prostitutes in Chinese border towns can turn down 100 (10) for 30 minutes work I think they are doing pretty well - that's more than I earn for 30 minutes work. How long have you been in the business?

I don't know, looks to me like a Dell T5500 with no monitor and configured fairly close to the base Mac Pro costs $2962.00 after a $520 discount. Its three-year warranty is more like Apple Care. The processor is slightly faster and the RAM runs at 1333MHz. The Dell needs an optional FW card but doesn't say whether it's FW400 or 800. Also I didn't see a mention of optical sound.
BUT! It's a Dell. Look up the reliability of Dell workstations online and the decision to get a Mac Pro is a huge no brainer. Even several hundred dollars more for the MP's great chassis and Mac OS with the ability to run Windows 7 is still a great deal.

Since when does Microsoft fix bugs? They just keep introducing more and more features to bury the bugs.
