Apple can recoup a portion of its payment if Creative is successful in licensing this patent to others.
This clause in the press release is very strange. Makes me wonder what price Creative would place on a license sale to Microsoft for its Zune and what Apple would recoup. Unless Microsoft can find a way to avoid infringing this patent, it effectively means that for every Zune sold, Apple will get some cash. Haha-hehe
Look out Sandisk too.

Yes, drunk driving is bad. But so are other forms of distracted/dangerous driving such as talking on a cell phone, eating, texting, speeding. Shouldn't they rot in a cell too, since they are posing a dangerous risk on our roads as well?
You're telling me drunk driving is on the same level as eating or talking on a cell phone? Yes, they're stupid things that shouldn't be done and people should be punished for, but in no way are they the same.
Why single out one type of bad, high-risk driver?
Go read the forum title again.

(see back lit keyboard in current MBA)
And replace backlight with Braille print? Cool, it would save some battery juice at night. By the way, I don't look at the keyboard when typing. Are you?

I assume the screen would be a touch screen. I would hate to start dialing numbers using the click wheel.
actually steve is going for the nostalgic approach...you gotta wind the clickwheel and then be connected to a switchboard operator who will then connect your call

So it seems that the OP may be a liar or have memory recall issues, considering the inconsistences found in his prior posts. Is there a MR rule for that?
Perhaps we need a Fiction forum, in order that the children may play there?

What a bunch of winey gun-control people in here, the only down side was that the other two involved weren't shot and killed now they get to cost the tax payers more money in court.

You need to stop capitalizing that "i". Seriously.
I hope that the "i" prefix drops from use all together.

What about the Mini?
No one knows. These are just rumors anyhow. The absence of Mac mini rumors means nothing.
In terms of CPU and graphics, the Mac mini is most similar to the low-end MacBook rather than the iMac.

Guys they've already told us what the next update will be. Remember the MBA commercial, "the future of MacBook" or whatever the actual words were.. Which means no optical, a ssd, and a core2duo with 320m..
Ahhh the future

…store songs they’ve purchased from its iTunes store, as well as others songs stored on their hard drives, and listen to them on multiple devices
yes! was hoping it would not be only songs purchased from the iTunes Store. will probably be a subscription service with Mobile Me, but if it was only iTunes purchased songs then that would be a deal breaker.
streaming original masters of the song to prevent uploading is very smart, but will probably be only for iTunes purchased songs.

Apple noted (http://www.macrumors.com/2011/03/01/apple-defends-against-microsoft-in-app-store-trademark-dispute/) in a prior filing that it had moved to protect its trademark by reaching out to companies it believed was using the "App Store" name improperly, but Microsoft argues that the simple fact that those companies were using the term in the first place indicates that the term is generic.
WOW! That's quite the argument Microsoft's putting forward. If that's true, they're arguing against the entire trademark system! Using someone else's trademark causes it to be generic and no longer a trademark?
Good luck with that one.

A family member has the new MBP 13" and I think it has a nice display. I have no idea how it is for gaming, but pics and videos look quite nice, IMHO. I've been of the opinion that Apple uses a better quality display panel than the other manufacturers, not necessarily stronger graphics performance but overall better looking.
I have always found that the Apple displays are a lot brighter than other brands. Tome, the quality of the display is one of the most important key points of a new model.
If they were to make any significant improvement in the 11.6" MBA display (higher resolution, brighter screen, higher contrast, move to IPS technology) I think I would consider upgrading immediately.

I think we all knew that Merom would only bring modest performance gains. I'm surprised they're as high as they are. I'm still not sure why they're using the laptop line of processors in their mid range desktop but it's certainly a testament to the power of Intel's new chips. If it keeps the iMac's cool and efficient then it's all good.

The scary thing is some of these people may be sitting on the jury if this ever happens to you.
Take an LFI course (look it up). One benefit is things are arranged so if you are on such trial you can put the jury thru the same course so they will understand what happened from your point of view.

OMG.. I'm with Felt. "Security Guards" shouldn't carry guns, and if they do there should be training and good sense that goes into using it. Shooting the suspects in the head is criminal.

I think the big advantage to this downgrade will be buying clearance and refurbished Nvidia-based MBAs for 25% discounts... Unless Apple somehow fits a standard voltage SB CPU in the 13" MBA, I think most will be better off with C2D and Nvidia 320m at discounts.
Thats what I'm thinking...hoping to grab a 13 at ~1000/1100 on Amazon.

Oh boy... the Catholic Church is WAY too easy of a target. We should probably leave that one alone.
I hope you people realise that not all people in the catholic church think about condoms and such the way the Vatican does.
I am a seminarian (priest in training so to speak) and do not think condoms should be forbidden.
Don't forget that the Catholic church is very open, as in the Evolution theory, Big Bang, not taking the bible as a science or history book.
Furhtermore, the pope has an iPod nano, and he saaid computer technology is the future.

You can source any of that whenever you're ready. No hurry.
Published in USA today. An article titled "Are Lives Really an Acceptable Price for Fuel Efficiency?"
DDT's effects on malaria are well established, and the consequences of banning DDT in 1972 are also pretty widely accepted. People disagree, however, on whether it was a good thing or not.
and SuperCachetes, I was under the impression that US jobs were going out of the country bc we can't afford Union price tags. But if you "think" making labor more expensive will spur hiring, then keep "thinking" that with your "brain" ;)
Meanwhile, I'll be earning my degree from a top 25 university so that I can get a job that affords healthcare for my children

A red nano would look pretty hot. That might just be enough motivation for me to finally buy one.
Of course convincing the wife to let me buy one, now that's different. ;)

Hmmm, an Aperture update would be cool. I wonder if they would make any financial "concessions" to people who have recently purchased Aperture... :o
