Removable GPU!? Pretty impressive!
I have one of the first Core i7 iMacs from 2009 and they have always had a removable GPU. The 2010 Models have removable GPUs as well. You can purchase used upgrade (5670 or 5750's online, these (http://eshop.macsales.com/search/imac+replacement+video+card) are the 2010 iMac video cards that you can put into the 2009 model iMacs) I had a technician come to my house and replace only the GPU on my iMac i7 (2009), then on a separate occasion they replaced only my logic board.
Perhaps they are talking about the 21" models having removable GPUs? Is that it? It appears that everyone thought all the old models didn't have removable GPUs.
By the way, guys, the iMacs have had separate mobile graphics boards since the first aluminium models from August 2007. The fact that you can replace these boards without replacing the logic board is OLD NEWS. These boards are the same that you'd find in super-thick, high-end gaming PC laptops. It also explains why you're not seeing any higher than a 6750M in a MacBook Pro.
I'm glad someone else knows what they are talking about! :)
It's a standard: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MXM
Exactly! They are in fact the Mobile versions of Each GPU, NOT Desktop versions. That why when in Windows (under bootcamp) I prefer to use AMD's drivers for the corresponding Mobile version of each card because it works better than Apple's Bootcamp drivers, which they never update. I've had huge performance improvements using AMD's drivers off their website rather than the BootCamp Drivers themselves.
I've found it kind of maddening that Apple markets these GPUs as full desktop GPUs, because they aren't.

Thankfully there will be. I know for a fact that the public build of Leopard is missing a lot of stuff. Most of it simply isn't finished and so not checked into the main Leopard tree. Some of it is simply not checked in because its not ready to be shown. Anyone with access to RADAR can find this info through some interesting searches.

Only question. Why?
Some say Apple need to buy Netflix. Have those of you even considered what Netflix charges for monthly streaming?
$8
Apple will never let customers eat that much for so little. The day Apple buys Netflix, DVDs would stop, and streaming would go up to $30 a month.
Promised.
you are probably right. competition will not matter at that point. and that is a shame.

I'm having an issue with this: no matter what I do I cannot get the phone to connect. It just says "Could not connect to EyeTV service unavailable (503)". This is via the local WiFi/Wired network and/or My EyeTV (which has a green light on the EyeTV preferences. Any ideas?

The smaller microbreweries are better than the big ones. I'll take Boulevard or Schlafly (or Spotted Cow when I can get my hands on it, which isn't often enough) over Budweiser or Coors any day, and I'd take toilet water over Natty Light.
I assume you are enjoying a New Glarus Spotted Cow while visiting Wisconsin. It is difficult to find outside their border because they don't distribute out of Wisconsin. I like Spotted Cow but New Glarus also offers some other quite tasty brews as well.
I had my first New Glarus brew when I started doing annual trisp to Road America to see the AMA Superbike races. However, I now live near the Sconi border and it's an easy trip to get it.
I always drink, what I consider good beer IMO, but when micro is not available and I have to drink a macro beer, I usually go for a Grain Belt Primo.

i think it's fine not to release it today.
folks, you may be drooling over wanted software, but do you not realize, what steve said, the revolution behind the iphone??? it's not just an 'upgrade' to a mac or a pump in processor speed. it's a brand new 3-in-1 product.
anything else..and i mean anything else, would have been a sad whimper in the bucket after the iphone - ppl would have been 'who cares!' about anything else. We all know leopard isn't coming out yet. in another few months...sure. and they had alot of features to cover within the timeframe of his keynote.
i think you'd rather ilife 07 have its own day.
i know it sucks that you've waited this long, but if your need is for business to make money, then go buy one. if not, hang in there chum. all will be well soon enough.
and i agree with another poster...maybe if they could fix itunes 7 first. speed it up a bit etc...

I can confirm the sale of white iPhone 4's here in Belgium at a couple of retail stores. Just picked up a 32gb model this afternoon.
After all, I prefer the black model. Anyone interested? :)
Please take photos of the dock connector and the headphone jack :).

Is it possible to hook a Mac Pro up to this, and if so will OS X recognize this much storage?
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/709613-REG/Dulce_Systems_978_0000_0_PRO_RXqp_Chassis_.html
I don't see any Mac drivers, so most likely not possible with OS X.
If you want Mac support, check out Promise.
If you want to save some money, build your own ZFS box based on OpenSolaris or FreeBSD.

As quite a few people, I have been victim to rather frequent crashes when using the paste command in Word 2011. Nothing seems to help: (real) full clean re-install, removing duplicate fonts, etc, etc.
The crashes were so frequent that I went back to Word 2008. If this is solved I'd be happy to go back to 2011....
Since when does Microsoft fix bugs? They just keep introducing more and more features to bury the bugs.

Depends on the agreement. It could be released on 12/31/12. Everyone is so up on this . I think it sucks. There is no way this gets released while SJ is alive.:apple:
It would make sense that Steve's been told he's only got X amount of time to live and he wants this published after his death. I'd have thought he'd not want to see it released before his death.
It's sad to see...really sad. I cant say I'm a huge fan of some of his actions, but I guess it cant be denied that the guy has had a remarkable roller coaster ride with Apple, NeXTSTEP, etc.
My fear is that Apple may have unknowingly positioned itself in a bad place for this. The company has clearly lost interest in the Mac side of things. I just think that once Steve parts ways, people will slowly drop off and switch away from Mac's. They have their iPhone/Pod/Pad and then have no need for what will essentially be an expensive, poorly maintained OS.
I guess nobody will know the outcome so there's no point taking in my speculations.

Again, anyone know if this will work under 10.5.8?
The page http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/memory/Apple_MacBook_MacBook_Pro/Upgrade/DDR3 says you need MacOS 10.6.6.
"You must be running Snow Leopard to address 8GB on these systems."
Did you look on the site before asking your question here?

Netflix is too expensive to acquire. No one will purchase them. Netflix's only draw is that it's throw away money. 8 bucks a month is a beer at a bar. Even if the content stinks, you watch two movies and it's worth it.
That being said, Apple, Google, Amazon, even Redbox are going to wage some serious war during the next few years on Netflix. It could turn into the next Blockbuster and go bankrupt or it could reign supreme with all the goliaths nipping at their heals.
If I were a company and Apple and Google were my competition I'd probably be a little afraid. One coming at me is scary, two isn't even fair.

and look at the crappy content that they have for streaming. everything is super old. hopefully if apple does this, they would have new content and people wouldn't mind paying more bc the content is better.
Since when is "The other Guys" and "Alice in Wonderland" (2010) old? and for people who said it takes a long time to add to the DVD's and change stuff, it takes 5 minutes after we watch a DVD.

If some of the components come from Japan, is Apple scanning the finished units for radiation? I'm not saying but I'm just saying...
Nope... they're working on the new iXray App for all new iPads. :p
I know... bad joke!

The torrented MPEG-4 or H264 saved movies of the Keynotes that I have seen were captured using
screenshot-apps such as Snapz Pro. They usually weigh-in at approx. 160 MB for 90 minutes.
It usually takes a couple days for these to appear on Bit Torrent networks;
presumably the person doing the recording must wait for the stream traffic to
die down enough to get a clean, uninterrupted stream to work with.
At least that's my understanding of it...

I am just curious as to how the roadmap for future iteration of iPhone will go.
If iPhone 5 is late-September early-October, does it mean iPhone 6 will be the same time in 2012, or skip to Summer 2013?
I think if the iPhone 5 isn't announced in June, Apple will likely announce one in time for the holidays. I think that Apple wants to take advantage of the holiday season to market the new iPhones rather than the summer. Though either way, people will be lining up in droves to get one.
