Google's greatest assests are their data-collection/data-mining libraries. The rest of it is crap (scientific term!).
Actually, their stock isn't too bad... $426.06/share  Apple was only at $79/share

I'd still love to have an 11" myself. That size is just too awesome. It's that perfect size in which it fits in a lot of spaces that even the 13" can't fit. (Think of it as one of the only truly disappearing full-fledged laptops).

On the other hand, I don't have 15" laptops now, but I did have one 17" Old Gateway that had 1440x900 resolution. I didn't like the bulky size and the weight of it, but that resolution is awesome. The 13" was a way to get the best of all worlds. Highly compact and yet a full blown resolution that handles some of the bigger space-using jobs that any laptop could have. What's nice is that some of my (full screen) using apps now only use a portion of my desktop as a window. Fantastic stuff, and surprisingly good performance.

While I had no real doubts about the 11" performance, my 13" resolution has come in handy a lot and so has that SDcard slot. (I think my learning of how that slot can also utilize the real high density SDXC cards, sealed the deal). Not to mention, the speed of the SDcard slot. I think the impressive 13" MBA battery life was another little factor.

Still, as a true *on the go* machine, that 11" seems quite nice.

    2. Even if it's not, why does the fact there's no brake lights illuminated have anything to do with it? Drivers of cars making up rows of traffic in Europe generally don't all have their foot on the brake pedal - most cars have manual transmissions and thus don't try and creep forward whilst in traffic. It is considered that those who do drive an automatic should knock the gearbox into neutral and apply the handbrake if they are to be stopped for any length of time - especially in the dark - as to prevent bright brake lights from blinding the driver behind. One should only illuminate their brake lights - whatever transmission - if they are at the rear of a queue of stationary traffic and can see a car approaching from behind at speed.

That's awfully friendly. In the bay area (USA) we do nothing of the sort.

I just want to know who is the ass monkey that took this picture? Hahaha, the monkey has left all of us playing Sherlock Holmes trying to figure out what the text says! That said, I don't think it's anything more than what it is, just a greeting banner to welcome people.

An application from iLife '11 has already been released. It's called iTunes 10. It's not 64-bit.

Uhmmm... iTunes is not a part of iLife ;)

It will probably work the way Amazon's new service does. Only the music you purchase moving forward can be synced in the cloud.

That is what I am afraid of. I hope this isn't the case, but I have a feeling you are spot on about this.

    Hey...

    So, sounds good.

Are designating one day as the "big" event. It might be easier to get a good showing one particular day, and leave the other days open as well for people who want to meet.

Because whether she made a bad decision or not is beside the question. If we were all liable to prosecution for bad decisions, there would be nobody left to pass judgement.

That's my point really, society has done away with personal responsibility. Prosecution should not even come into this. She made a bad judgement call and if she was to die because of it, she should be sole responsible. She's a victim of her own actions.

The world's best movie editors never do their job on Mac platform, on which there is little resource/tools compared with other OS, dont they?
A software on mac could be even called a great news. so as steam.

The same thing just needs more hardware resources on Mac.
e.g., for starcraft 2, one needs 1gb on win but 2 on mac...

Video card perfermance is another restraint, may be due to bad driver development.

How is that exactly? Its a MacBook with a stand and a bigger screen. How is it not for personal use?

Well, yeah, you kind of made my point for me.

It combines the awesome power of a laptop with the portability, ease of installation, and desktop requirements of a desktop. The MacBook, in hardware terms, is a compromise. The key feature of it is portability. It's not a great computer, but it's "good enough" and, when combined with portability, is a great system.

A personal user is either going to want to spend $900-1,000 on a moderately powerful desktop optimised for personal use (which the $900 iMac isn't, with its choice of optical drive, low hard disk capacity, and lack of modern graphics), or a good laptop (which, again, the iMac isn't.) From an institutional point of view, however, the portability is a liability, but the fact the machine comes with everything all pre-installed with minimum set up other than the "locating a spot for it" (which is inherently done in offices anyway) means it's ideally suited to that.

That's what makes it great for institutions. It's not that a personal user can't use it, it's that, at the price point, there are machines far better suited to personal users than the $900 iMac.

My real concern at the moment is the lack of a desktop in that space from Apple. A "high end" Mac mini really is needed.

i am for the G5 too , i am just restoring modding a G5 dual core 2.3 single processor , which will then become my main computer , sure if i look on geekbench points a new mini will achieve more points , the mini will likely even be cheaper then the G5 after my modding , as i want to squeeze out every bit performance i can get , means maxing out the ram to 16gb ,a x800 GPU fit in my WD velociraptor 600gb hdd 10000rpm drive out of my iMac intel core duo , then i get one of these expansion bays (http://www.maxupgrades.com/istore/index.cfm?fuseaction=category.display&category_id=306) , that gives me enough storage capacity
but first i need to sort the case out as it is badly scratched.. it gets anodized in snow white, but can take a while as i get it done for free from a mate who works in a company which is anodizing motorcycle parts ...so i cant push him

the problem i have with the mini its just to small , as we all know we need backups , and that means in case of the mini adding external drives and cluttering up the desk , in my opinion a mini is only suitable for people who want to use it as htpc only ..and it still comes as stand alone device , not even keyboard and mouse but costs now nearly double what the mini did cost initially in ignoring that everything got cheaper, and offering only onboard graphics and the now already old core2 duo processor in the times of i3 .i5 and i7

I think he may be right. I've never seen a parking lot with rows of cars parallel parked.

    It's a parking lot.

    Haha I was driving indeed!

Yard sale and cakewalk options still on the table.

What point are you trying to make here? That the victim is not a victim if she did not weigh up carefully enough the possibility that her husband might be a homicidal lunatic?

My point is that it takes two to tango and both the morons are to blame. What point are you trying to make? We get it. You side with the lady of the situation because you think it's reasonable for her to believe a car with a driver wouldn't move.
