NO one uses iChat because no one uses AIM. Its all crappy MSN!
Around here AIM is all anyone uses...
It's starting to look really interesting. I'm extremely happy that Time Machine is optional... I don't delete anything unless I'm sure I won't need it. And, I back up my home folder to my server about every week, and I keep it for about a month and then delete it.
I also hope that there's different themes... like brushed metal, soft metal, aqua, etc.

You went up in arms about the itunes logo, but when a mockup is truly horrible, you praise it? This is about the worst mockup i've ever seen.
Apple, please never ever put that awful backing on the iphone. ever.
You hip generation might like holes in your jeans and scratches on your phone, but I just think it's stupid. :p
Maybe they're afraid of yet again having to face the embarassment of having first bashed a design and said it looks like a cheap chinese knock-off and then doing a 180 degree turn when it turns out it's Apples own design, it's a precautionary measure.
(For the record, I never liked the 3G/3GS design, I was pleasantly surprised when I saw the leaked iP4 images and loved it when it turned out to be the actual thing, and if this ugly abomination turns out to be an actual Apple product I loose all respect for Apple)

Consider the current ipod is $400. This is looking like it could be quite expensive. I just don't see it selling for less than half a grand

I wish they'd spend that time being productive writing new and cool things instead of worrying about what may possibly happen.
Security should be something that's handled at the low level, not something we have to sit here BSing about all day long and installing programs for. i have parallels and it works great for me except the whole video thing. i work a lot with video and so that is of course why i got a mac pro :D , but as a freelancer not everything is in final cut so i thought i'd install avid in parallels. well it doesn't think i have a video card and thus wont let me do anything :mad: so if vmware can do that then sign me up.
i also like the whole drag and drop idea, i dont know exactly if parallels can do that, i know you can share a folder, but i picture draging a file from my left monitor(s) to my full screen pc on my right monitor's desktop and it just popping up. that'd be neat but not enough for the switch from parallels.
this is good though because it'll make parallels step it up even more and we'll get some more features quicker.

One thing im not too keen on is the Safari loading icon. I think the loading bar in Tiger is much easier to see.
If you are working in another window you can see the bar shooting along (or not) the Safari window with out looking directly at it. If they keep this new one then you will have to 'actually look at it' to see where its at.
I'll chime in too agree with everyone on this :) Sites have all different favicons in that spot--so there's no one image to show the page is loaded! Bad place for a progress meter. The big bar was better.

Once I get my iMac will get the free basic MobileMe and purchase the very reasonable 20.00/year for music.
It's cheaper than DropBox which charges 200.00 /year 100GB and 100.00 /year 50 GB Even if I didn't get the music I'd be getting the 200.00 and 100.00 pkgs from Dropbox for free.

they deserved it. if the kid is stupid enough to look at a 1000 dollar app and hit download he shouldnt get a refund. hey i just put a gas hose in my car, i didnt expect gas to come out and i had to pay. any how why would the mother give a 11 year old access to her credit card? dumb move. she deserved it too. she could type the pass for him or give him a blank account and buy gift cards for him.

Imac touch with ios apps as widgets? Imagine cleaning fingerprint smudges off a 27" iMac display. I hope Apple doesn't go there, and I don't think they will.

A lot of the features are missing right now, the preference window only has 2 checkboxes. Just ran into a really nasty bug right now, still buggy.
There are no settings for VRam, seperate parition/drive, or even shared folders. This is defitantely not like the PC version (right now). But since its beta, more features will probably be added soon.

This is a disgrace.
Standing there watching this unfold and doing nothing but film and laugh at the poor victim.
Nobody deserves to be kicked the head repeatedly, i hope they catch those 2 girls and lock them up and throw away the key!
As for those 'defending' the employees for not intervening, shame on you... The 2 girls clearly did not have any weapons, hence the brutality of their attack using their fists and feet, a whole 3 or minutes go past, if they had a weapon they would have used it by then instead of taking such horrific actions like stamping on the victim's head!!! There were at least 4 full grown MEN capable of stopping that and it takes a female OAP to at least try... Cowards.

That was the case for the previous 21.5" too. The smaller enclosure can only fit 2 DIMM slots while the larger 27" can fit 4 DIMM slots.
Given it's Sandy Bridge, curious if that means the 27" might be able to take 32GB.

You get it partly wrong. It's true that Apple is not using special chips. They use some of the chips that all other companies use. But they do not use many of the chips the users would want to have. The reasoning might differ - whether it's the case or the motherboard, but the end result is the same - limited choices. Like no quad core CPUs in laptops before SandyBridge was released (wrong TDP), or sticking with outdated C2P for years.
