Apple has a tall hill to climb if they want to beat FREE google maps on android? But since it will be on iOS, ignorance is bliss, and people will think its the best thing ever.
You keep your widgets and "free" Google maps on Android. I'll take a robust catalog of quality apps on iOS.
At least I can buy a good nav app for iOS. You can't buy (at any price) a vast number of the highly-polished and functional applications and games I can get on my iOS devices.

I got a little credit card looking thing in the mail. I'll be bringing it all with me just in case. The only thing I can commit to is being at the Axiotron presentation at the OWC booth at about 2:30PM for some big announcement (http://eshop.macsales.com/Reviews/Framework.cfm?page=/macworldexpo/mwsfo2007.html). And even that I can't commit to really. Too bad we don't have hats or something.

Exactly. MAYBE I'd do like 2 buck "rental" where they stop working after a couple days. I guess you could always do a DVI to HDMI cable for your TV couldn't though huh?

does anyone wonder if there (is/is not) a contingency plan for what happens when google decides to (PLEASE GOD NO!) close it's doors? I''m just curious. as steve said, once you add a feature, you can't take it away.

On the MacBook Pros the graphics connection was downgraded from PCIe x16 to PCIe x8 to get PCIe lanes for the TBolt controller.
Have the teardowns or other info shown whether that's the case for the Imacs?

There was really no surprise to spoil. We've all known about this for a year or so (or at least had a pretty good feeling). I mentioned it on my website a month ago: www.adamcz.net/stocks
EDIT: I'd also like to add, that I find it interesting that we're simultaneously entering an era of Blu Ray/HDDVD and low quality downloads. I just bought my first HDTV, and I really want to make good use of it. I've therefore got no interest in downloading a movie that is inferior to DVD quality. I think they might as well target only ipods with this service, or make sure their files look good on big tvs. I don't see a lot of marketshare for the in-between.

3D audio cues? How would you get anything above 1D audio cues?
Dolby Digital Surround. If you just have a R/L channel.... its only 1 D. But since Dolby has 5.... 2 back... 3 forward... with the center forward and i different height.... u can get almost 3D sound. I think its a really cool features that dissapointingly won't get taken advantage of enough. Some programs should definetly utilize that. It would be great for a simple maze game where like as ur mouse moves u hear where its going. It'd really be cool beans.

A software on mac could be even called a great news. so as steam.
The same thing just needs more hardware resources on Mac.
e.g., for starcraft 2, one needs 1gb on win but 2 on mac...
Video card perfermance is another restraint, may be due to bad driver development.

Apple was first to bring realtime effects to a mainstream platform with motion as Motion used the GPU for effects. Eventually other large software houses followed suit. Problem is that Motion sucks in so many other ways it fell by the way side.
Now with Final Cut X Apple is leap frogging again with Grand Central Dispatch, etc. These speed advantages are a huge reason for some of the best editors in the world to stay onboard with final cut and buy more apple boxes - which cost about the same as a pc when you add the extra costs of 3rd party pc software and the like. Besides reliability is essential for editors and Macs have that in spades.

It's 1.5 Million Page Ins and 83,053 page outs (just took a new reading, same as yesterday) IT'S HEARTBREAKING!!!! Don't worry little Mac, OWC has more RAM on the way...
I'd say it's heartening, not heartbreaking.
It's doing what it's supposed to do. There's a lot of stuff that's sitting there in memory, never to be read OR written again. Then there's a lot of stuff that's read-mostly, write-never, or write almost never. Then you've got stuff that's read and written constantly.
Makes perfect sense to move the stuff that's just sitting there, and MIGHT be read, or is only read - out to disk. Leaves more room in RAM for stuff that has to be read/written constantly.
And if you're going to write stuff once and read it a lot - what better place to put it than in a flash drive?
A good paging algorithm (and one presumes OSX has a good paging algorithm) is going to first page out stuff that is written but never read, then stuff that is written once and read seldom, then stuff that is written once and read often, then.... well, you get the idea, I hope.
I really wish OSX supported tmpfs, which is available on Linux. With tmpfs you can mount a RAM-drive that is backed by swap on your /tmp directory, or any other directory that is OK to empty on reboot and needs to be fast. There's really zero negative to doing this, and everything to gain.
On my Linux system, /tmp is a tmpfs, and I mount a tmpfs for the obj directory when doing big compiles. A tmpfs would make XCode really fly!

Apple told Congress that the GPS info to "analyze traffic patterns and density" (which I too, originally took to be about signals, not navigation) is only sent to Apple every 12 hours. Hardly realtime data.
So right now, it could simply be data collected as test info to help developers more realistically simulate traffic during code testing.
But wouldn't they need to take into account all the other 3G data devices on using the cells at the same time?

The price needs to be $.99 to $1.99 for each issue. I can get Men's Health in mailed to my house for $14.99 for 10 issues. Why does each iPad issue cost so much!

Internet data usage is increasing and internet data caps are decreasing. This doesn't seem good...
Well, on a 256kbps stream (not sure if the music would get re-encoded or if the service would allow you to select bitrate) you would use about 112.5 MB per hour of streaming. If you had a 30 minute commute each way to work, you are looking at (roughly) going over your allowance in a month (AT&T USA) without any other data usage. (60 mins x 20 days = 2,250MB ).
I'm not sure this is sustainable unless the telecom providers stop putting small data caps on usage...
