If it does end up being streamed "live" can you imagine the struggle everyone will have attempting to log on and watch. The drop outs on a non-live Apple event after they're posted is bad enough!
Can you imagine the server farm they are bringing online to handle movie downloads right now? Racks and racks of Xservers. Maybe bringing Google's CEO on board is to get access to Google's new network. Perhaps Apple thinks they can now handel streaming an event of this magnitude live without the bottlenecks.

That is the same deal at my school! It's a shame our schools are "mac ghetto". :p
The eMac G4's are new this year though!
Only a few of the labs had eMacs, last year it was all iMac G3's!!!
The sad part, is presenting a PowerPoint in class, and having to log-in with a G3 iMac, and try to present something, just to find out it is as slow as a turtle.
They really need to pick up some new iMacs.

I think that just like the iPod became the 'in' fashion standard for mp3 players, Apple laptops could become the must have college 'accessory.' Apple has been so successful marketing the iPod experience that many people buy it because they equate iPod with cool. And Apple laptops have a form factor that makes them sleek and even sexy next to many bulkier PC laptops (and even a thinner design like IBMs ThinkPad, or whatever it's called, just doesn't make you want to use it in the same way).
I have a MacBook Pro, and 5 or 6 people in my education program have said that they have got to get one now that they have seen it. All the little touches, like the camera, some of the included software, and the streamlined look were very appealing to those who saw it (the backlit keyboard was a big deal, too). If you're going mobile, the computer becomes no more of an accessory (for the average user), than an iPod.
I've been a solid Mac user for four years, and have never seen the amount of Apple laptops around a campus as I do now. I think that the iPod did a lot to reinvigorate interest in Apple, and the design of Apple laptops will help expand their market further.

this whole patent thing is really annoying. there should be NO patents.
There should be. However not left as vague things and they have to be used or lost. Why patent something if you have no intent of developing? It hinders progress.
As per Nokia, I wonder what patents has the MacBook Pro line, the iPod line and the Mac Pro have infringed. Curious because I thought Nokia was a phone company not computer and consumer electronics.

my 24" imac (C2D) runs about 30 degrees farenheit hotter than it did prior to the upgrade.

Magnetic ... glass isn't magnetic ... only iron, nickle, cobalt are magnetic. Your suggestions are even possible ... learn physics before you suggest crazy ideas like this.

The glass panel is held on by magnets - I've probably taken apart 50 iMacs so I would have an idea.
The glass panel has a number of metal pins on metal flanges, glued on around its circumference. The aluminium front housing has holes for these pins with magnets on either side. The magnets on the housing attract the metal pins on the glass panel and keep everything together.
If you don't believe me, find something ferrous in your house and wave it around the edge of an iMac's glass panel, you'll notice it get attracted to the 10 or so magnets hidden behind.
What the guy is suggesting is possible, just very unlikely to happen because the bare LCD is so fragile.

You do realize the excessive amount in data in Motion, Soundtrack, & Others are from templates (aka, extra files you don't have to install). You could probably install the entire Final Cut Studio Suite in probably 3GBs without all the extra template.
I know that.... I'm just hoping/assuming we will have access to the same things without the file sizes. Or..... Buy Motion with core files, DL templates/effects/yadda yadda yadda as needed for free.

Did anyone notice on the very beginning of the show "HD brought to you by Windows 7" ? I know this is probably coincidence, but its still not cool to do spoof like this if Microsoft is a sponsors. I kinda lost respect for the guy now, I don't know. Peace may be funny, but its still very distasteful to do 8 and a half minute clip, which is almost half of the show if Microsoft is a new sponsor. I mean come on.

who needs 8gb, sheesh. i barely use 2gb of my 4gb of ram as it is. even using photoshop, I have never seen it max out.
I regularly start paging my HDD with my 3GB RAM, however can�t get any more as I�m on an older machine. I dream of the day I can have 8GB in my mac and not see it max out.

Phil is a really nice guy and I like him, but I don't like him as a presenter. I was SJ did the whole thing. However I don't think he was ready, and that have the other 3 help were a last minute thing which is why they were all kind of off.
Haveing that french guy talking about vista was a really bad choise. I could not understand what he was saying.
I also did not like it when Jobs was reading what to do.
Hopefully Paris will make up for these things.

If there are "top secret" features, I would guess they would have to be apps if it's going to be released at MWSF? There couldn't be significant changes to the operating system without developer testing before then. Unless they are going to introduce the "top secret" features after Vista has shipped (someone was saying that's next month?) But even that seems like a really quick testing phase for developers.

TBH the 27" IMac is sounding very tempting with the double TB and SB
why on earth is the HDD not sata-3
i was planning on copping an IMac for my family home, as my parent and sisters love my MBP - but i really do not care if the IMac CPU is 10-15% faster, when the hdd only links to sata3 - as i would of put an owc ssd in!
Guess i will wait for a 2012 re-fresh when apple finally recognises sata-6
i hope, rather than giving us TB - which i love, but at this point in time is a little redundant as there is no TB equipped peripherals available - hopefully a next gen apple cinema display with OLED and TB would also get my cash!
I love my iMac, but i think next year, i will have to get the new Macbook pro to go along with it.
