Wait let me get this right.
The preface of the argument is that apple hasn't said it having an April iOS event as yet like they normally do.
But invites for those event are sent out maybe a week in advance plus Easter is late in the month.

I just received notice that the tomtom car kit I ordered from Bottom Line Telecommunications has shipped, and should be here in a couple of days. I paid $90 shipped. (Don't know if they have any more in stock.) I expect it will be available elsewhere online for discounted prices soon.
I agree that it would be nice if it were cheaper, but if you add up a separate quality car mount, power cable, hands free kit, and external gps, you're going to be close or over $90 in any case. So maybe it's a luxury, but not a ridiculous one. Everyone with an iphone is paying at least $840 a year for the privilege of using it, and if all you wanted was cell phone service you could pay half that. So if you think it's too expensive, don't buy it; but I don't know why so many feel they have to act so outraged over the cost.
They do have more of these in stock, but I was wondering if you have used their services before. it seems a little weird that they would offer it at such a low price, and they do not use paypal.

Being that iP4 and iP5 will have the same form factor, wouldn't it make sense for Apple to make the 4 the same as the 5, i.e. no glass on the back and whatever other external changes the 5 brings? I would think they would be able to save money...same on the outside, different on the inside.
So maybe it will be a release of the 4S and 5?

I completely disagree. Apple would reach a larger audience with a candy-bar style phone that is sub $250. If they can just release an inexpensive version and a souped up version shortly after, they could really kill Palm.

1. If you check Apple's knowledge database or the manual that come with MBP, it actually says not to put this laptop on top of your lap, ....
I have a 4 year old Toshiba that runs (under moderate load) fairly cool. It also warned against using in lap.
I think all "laptops" will come with that warning now. It is just an attempt to prevent lawsuits.
Plus, guys, it is bad for your...ummm....baby makers...they are on the outside for a reason.

ok im super duper glad they finally released it
and i'm happy about it being quad processor and the quad 3ghz is soooo dreamy
but i have mixed feelings about the case
on one hand i'm glad they stuck with the look of the g5 powermac,
and didnt go to some plastic looking crap (i love the brushed aluminum look)
but i wish they would have made it a little different looking

Given the market cap of those two companies, it doesn't seem like that bad a strategy for either of them.

I am totally happy with my iMac G5 2.0, and I hardly need notebooks in my current job (my trusty iBook G3 still chugs along pretty well with Tiger)...
But I have to admit that, if we see new MBs or MBPs (12" perhaps??) on Paris Expo days, I would be glad to burn some Swiss Francs in no time...for me the specs would have to be the following:
- Merom chips;
- dedicated GPU with at least 128Mb;
- glossy/normal screen options;
- Superdrive;
- BT/AE/Front Row/iSight built-in.
We'll see..!

Volume units (1 liter = 1 quart) work similarly, and 1-2 liter containers are fairly common even here in the US.

It also refers to specific instances where the software itself has to be modified to unlock a phone. It is already legal, because it's not a copyright violation, to unlock, for example, Nokia phones, whose locking code is actually algorithmically generated and therefore requires no copyright violation to use.
Truth is, most countries have no laws against breaking SP locks, and many countries, notably most in Europe, have laws forcing operators to unlock phones on demand. And yet most countries still have operators that sell subsidized phones in exchange for contracts. So no, this change will make no difference as far as subsidized handsets go.

I always thought the direction Apple would go with a tablet was as a consumer device extension to iPhoto, almost how iPod extends iTunes. Like how iTV will wirelessly pull viedo from Macs in your household, this could have been doing the same with photos years ago. Although primarily a picture frame, it could have had a touch screen and perhaps running full (or limited) OS X and permitting additional functions that users come up with.
Before recently, its likely this would either been too expensive a product for someone using it as just a picture frame, either that or too limited for someone wanting other functions. But that's surely not as true anymore, seeing how small and cheap devices are getting so capable these days.

No, he's talking about the drawing that shows something like a 24" iMac than can be swivelled down on your desktop from it's normal upright position to a slightly inclined position (like an iPad on it's new triangle smart cover back rest) and then you lift your arms up and use the 24" screen like an iPad.
Seems such a bad idea.
I like the idea of a giant touch screen in the surface of a desk, for some uses, but I'm really unsure about swinging an iMac screen around and sticking your hands all over it.

However I will stand by my original post, that if I was planning to upgrade to a MBP Merom, I would be prepared to wait until December. As most experts have predicted a switch before the new year.
Otherwise I think everyone understands both schools of thought here, which have already been suggested numerous times in previous post.
Although, I think Apple will hurt themselves more in the long run if they announce an update and can’t meet demand.I agree with you about November. But not for MBP - for Merom in MacBooks. Jeez, why do people think Apple will make the movie store/movie management part of iTunes? That would be the worst decision ever, the two mediums and two markets are so vastly different they need two seperate apps!
If Apple can just release an iTunes-like app combining Delicious Library style management with playback and the movie store, they've got a winner.
Bungle it in with the music store like they do with TV shows and keep the horrific video management in iTunes to manage them and a lot of people will be sick of it before long.
